Support: On a terracotta brazier still inserted into one of the compartments of a rectangular altar (w: 0.462 × h: 0.374 × d: 0.495).

Layout: Inscribed on one line of the narrower side, near the upper rim, but not visible when the brazier was inserted into the compartment.

Letters: 0.06.

Date: Ca. 400 BC (lettering).

Findspot: The altar was found during the excavations of 1930 at Cyrene ➚: Sanctuary of Apollo, so-called Agora of the Gods at its Western end.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: The brazier was taken out and its inscription discovered and studied in 1990 by Cl. Parisi Presicce in the Cyrene Museum: Storeroom of the Italian missions. Not seen by IGCyr team.

Commentary

Only two compartments, one with this brazier, are preserved, but the dimensions of the lower part of the monument show that there were initially five of them (a similar example is IGCyr022300², where the gods' names are inscribed on the altar itself).

As Parisi Presicce 1992, points out, the inscription cut on the brazier and not on the altar made it possible to change the deity to which sacrifices were made.
