Findspot: First copied in 1825 by J.-R. Pacho at Cyrene ➚: North Necropolis, "Red Tomb", in the vicinity of tomb N192.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou on September 18th, 2004 in situ, in the North Necropolis.

Commentary

For this tomb (not seen by Cassels), see Thorn 2007, p. 89, who described and named it ‘Red Tomb'.

The word ὀπά means 'insight, opening'. Besides this example, it is also used in four instances, out of which three clearly mention lintels of monumental doors (IGCyr020700², IGCyr022400², IGCyr017300², IGCyr096800²).
