Support: White marble fragmentary base , broken off, except the front-face (w: 1.15 × h: 0.45 × d: 0.16).

Layout: Inscribed on the face.

Letters: 0.05.

Date: Ca. 250 BC (prosopography, lettering).

Findspot: Found in 1915 at Cyrene: North Necropolis, tomb of the Mnesarchoi (tomb N 171 Cassels).

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by L. Beschi in 1961 at Shahat: Cyrene Museum. Not seen by IGCyr team.

Commentary

Mego was a member of a proeminent family, whose monumental tomb is well known.

Because of its larger dimensions, Beschi was able to suspect that the half-bust placed upon this base was n. 38 of his catalogue.

Oliverio 1933-1936, p. 116, footnote 1, explained that he could only give drawings of the bases from Mnasarkhoi tomb and would publish the photographs in a next section, but that never happened.
