Source description
Support: White marble base with mouldings on top and below on three sides (w: 0.52 × h: 0.135 × d: 0.4); a large hole on the upper face.
Layout: Inscribed on front face (w: 0.48 × h: 0.05), between the mouldings.
Letters: 0.015; carefully cut; large delta, slanting mu, lightly asymmetrical nu, omicron slightly smaller, much slanting sigma, calice-shaped upsilon and psi.
Date: Second half of fourth century BC (lettering).
Findspot: Found by G. Oliverio in 1926 at Cyrene ➚: Eastern part of the Sanctuary of Apollo.
Place of origin: Findspot.
Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 2001 at Cyrene ➚: in vestibule of the Byzantine Baths.

Megalokles son of Hypsokles and Hypsokles son of Megalokles (scil. dedicated this monument) to Apollo as a tithe.
Italian translation
Megalokles figlio di Hypsokles e Hypsokles figlio di Megalokles (scil. hanno dedicato questo monumento) ad Apollo come decima.
Commentary
At l. 1 the omission of lambda in the father's name was corrected by re-cutting five letters over the last four and the interpunction that originally divided the first man from the second. Even if less clear, the result was more correct.
The personal names clearly show that a father and his son were the dedicants.
