Commentary

We have clearly here a personal name built with the stem of κῦδος. We choose a reading placing this stem as a first member just because we know in Cyrenaica up to now more instances of this layout: Κυδίμαχος, Κυδάνωρ, Κυδιλέα, Κυδίας, Κῦδις are all attested in the Greek period with addition of the feminine Κυδιμάχα in the Roman period. However, this choice remains hypothetical, as Θεοκύδης is attested ατ Apollonia in the Roman period (IRCyr2020 A.6, a.4).
