Support: White marble base with plain mouldings above and below on all four sides (overall dimensions w: 0.77 × h: 0.475 × d: 0.465), slightly chipped off on the upper moulding and the inscribed face. In the upper face, a dowel hole still full of lead and its flow-channel.

Layout: Inscribed on the front (w: 0.65 × h: 0.134) between the mouldings in two lines with axial display.

Letters: Carefully cut letters (0.035-0.036) with very small serifs; smaller circular letters, rho with small loop, slanting sigma, chalice shaped upsilon.

Date: Probably first half of third century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found presumably in the seventies of the twentieth century at Cyrene ➚: from one or the other Necropolis.

Place of origin: Findspot

Last recorded location: Seen by Paci in 1979-1980 in Shahat, in front of the Casa Parisi, which is part of the Cyrene Museum. Seen by Gasperini in 2007 at the same place. Not seen by IGCyr team.

Commentary

Both names are well attested in Cyrenaica, no instance being known of them in a parental relation. The son's name is typically Cyrenaean. The father's name is less typical, but more frequent. This confirms Antolini's wise conclusion that any supposed relation with contemporary persons bearing one of those names is rather hazardous.
