Source description
Support: White marble base, recut behind in round shape, with plaster and red paint on the inscribed side, broken off at left and right (w: 0.305 × h: 0.27 × d: 0.215).
Layout: Inscribed on front face.
Letters: 0.026; large circular letters, symmetrical nu, slanting sigma.
Date: End of fourth of beginning of third century BC (lettering).
Findspot: Found before 1935 at Cyrene ➚: Sanctuary of Apollo, in front of Fountain of Apollo.
Place of origin: Findspot.
Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum, inv. number unknown. Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 2004 in Shahat: Cyrene Museum.

English translation
(scil. So-and-so) son of Polyarchos (scil. dedicated) to Apollo as a tithe (scil. the statue of) [---]os son of Chainys.
Italian translation
(scil. Il tale) figlio di Polyarchos (scil. ha dedicato) ad Apollo come decima (scil. la statua di) [---]os figlio di Chainys.
Commentary
This inscription was published by Pugliese Carratelli from a photograph in the Antiquities Archives, which mentioned the findspot as given above. He was not able to trace the stone.
In the vacat under line 3, some letters were scratched later on, especially an omicron (or a meaningless circle?) which is much visible on the photograph.
For another occurrence of a son of Chainys, see at IGCyr0991002, which however does not allow a secure restoration here.
