Source description
Support: Five fragments belonging to three blocks out of six, forming the architrave of the colonnade of a monumental fountain: block 1 and 4 are lost; fragment a belongs to block 2; fragments b and c are joining and belong to block 3; fragment d belongs to block 4; fragment e is block 6. The smooth architrave, in Doric style, was surmounted by a drip edge and fascia (approximate dimensions of block 6: w: 1.65 × h: 0.37).
Layout: Inscribed in one line on top of the face.
Letters: Estimated 0.08; careful lettering, slanting sigma.
Date: Ca. 335 BC (prosopography, lettering).
Findspot: The building was discovered by L. Pernier in 1923, excavated and reconstructed by S. Ensoli between 1988 and 1992 at Cyrene ➚, in the Sanctuary of Apollo, as Fountain of Philothales.
Place of origin: Findspot.
Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou many times since 1993, in situ, in the Sanctuary of Apollo.

Commentary
Some details were given at IGCyr from the features that any visitor to the site might observe. Rosamilia 2023 was able to be more precise about the space available on block 4, leading to prefer the present participle and to restore its final Ν on block 5. The verb of dedication is surely to be restored after that. However, this does not leave at right on block 5 a vacat symmetrical with that on block 2 at left. With the awaited final archaeological publication, this difficulty will probably be solved.
As noted by Ensoli Vittozzi 1996, Philothales son of Iason is the priest on duty in IGCyr0114002. He is also mentioned in a fragmentary list of priests (IGCyr0948002).
