Source description

Support: Fragment of a white marble panel, broken off at left, above and below (w: 0.16 × h: 0.195 × d: 0.045).

Layout: Inscribed on the face with a vacat between name and father's name, forming columns.

Letters: 0.01-0.013 very carefully cut, with large serifs and varying spaces between letters, so that the total width is the same at each line; slightly smaller circular letters; xi with central hasta; rho with very small loop; large and non-slanting sigma.

Date: Beginning of first century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found before 1993 at Cyrene: exact findspot unrecorded.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum, 1877. Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 1993 in Shahat: Cyrene Museum.

Commentary

This might belong to a list of ephebes dedicating to Hermes and Heracles the names of their officers. But there are also other possibilities.

All names are already attested at Cyrene, but for Δεξίλας, a semantic variant of the already attested Δεξίδαμος.
