Commentary

The word 'tithe' is restored on behalf of the very numerous other instances of such dedications. In fact, it would also be possible to read the name of the goddess Hekata, but inscriptions on marble for this deity are very few and this reading seems less plausible.

The name of the dedicant should have stood above. The two letters partially preserved at line 1, although incomplete, are read with certainty. A tempting restoration would thus produce one of the names with Ἀλκι- already known in Cyrenaica.
