Support: Two adjacent fragments of a white marble block, recut on both lateral sides; a second block of the same size is missing at right (w: 0.67- × h: 0.225 × d: 0.565).

Layout: Inscribed on back of base IGCyr016400²; two lines are inscribed at top left of present block, another line has only one half and proves the existence of a similar block to the right. It may thus be inferred that on the whole monument another item was written in a second column, whereas the lower line laid in the centre, across both blocks.

Letters: 0.015-0.02 at ll. 1-4; 0.025 at line 5; serifs.

Date: 128-116 BC (reign).

Findspot: Found before 1930 at Cyrene ➚: agora.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 2001 at Cyrene ➚: agora, in front of West Stoa.

Commentary

The missing block to the right should have been inscribed with another name of the royal family and the monument should have born two statues. Wilcken rightly assigned the monument to Clepatra III and one of her sons, contra Oliverio who suggested Cleopatra II.
