Commentary

At lines 7-11 our restorations are based on IGCyr011600², which also has detailed expenses. Oliverio's restorations lacked the mention of a remainder (λοιπόν).

A lot of products are missing and may have been mentioned if the panel was rather wide. However, we prefer not to restore excessively large lacunae in this fragmentary inscription. Rosamilia 2023 provides full restorations for lines which would amount to 50 characters.They are to be found above in the apparatus.

At ll. 9-10, Oliverio's restoration ὑπη[ρεσίαις] is quite convincing, as this abstract noun, used in the plural, has a collective meaning implying men, as well as for instance ἀρχαί.

For the word τιμαχεῖον, which is not complete here, the only attestation is at IGCyr011100², line 18, where its meaning is clearly 'public building, office of magistrates'. About this word, see Dobias-Lalou 1988.

For the unique instance of Η in the acrophonic value of 100 (drachmas) at line 11, see Dobias-Lalou 2017, p. 198, footnote 46. Rosamilia 2023, p. 144 suggests that this is one clue of a progressive replacement of the older local glyphs for currency by the acrophonic general system already in use at the time in Attica, based entirely upon drachmas. He thus points out that this glyph might also have been used at line 12 in the restored allowance for damiergoi instead of the traditional –.
