Source description

Support: Limestone stele, surmounted with a 'quirked ovolo' (Thorn), partly buried in the hill-wash (dimensions unknown).

Layout: Inscribed in two lines on the face, below the moulding.

Letters: Height unknown; slanting sigma.

Date: Hellenistic (monument type).

Findspot: Seen and copied by J.C. Thorn before 2005 at Cyrene: North Necropolis, above tomb N240.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by Thorn before 2005 at Shahat: North Necropolis. Not seen by IGCyr team.

Commentary

This stele was seen and drawn by Thorn above tomb N240 along with IGCyr0293002, the latter only having been published by Ghislanzoni.

This sort of stele is thought by Thorn to have stood on top of a sarcophagus.
