Source description

Support: In a rock-cut niche containing an altar with two compartments (dimensions not registered).

Layout: Inscribed on the back wall, above the altar.

Letters: Height not registered; irregular letters, dissymmetrical nu, slantering sigma.

Date: Perhaps fifth century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found before 1923 at Cyrene: Ain Hofra.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 1982 at Ain Hofra.

Commentary

Ferri's drawing is misleading, the sigma is not so strange as he drew it. Furthermore his epsilon, drawn with a small superfluous vertical stroke at the upper right angle, lead to a misinterpretation into an eta in SEG.
