Source description

Support: Small fragment of a white marble block, broken off on all sides (w: 0.20 × h: 0.08 × d: 0.015).

Layout: Inscribed on the face.

Letters: 0.02 wit small serifs; smaller circular letters, no typical shape.

Date: Perhaps third or second century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found before 1977 at Cyrene: findspot unrecorded.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum, inventory number missing. Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 1977 in Shahat: Cyrene Museum.

Commentary

Two possible restorations are given in the apparatus for line 2. Depending on the case (nominative or genitive) of that line, the name Diogenes at line 1 would be at the nominative or genitive. In the present condition of the stone, this cannot be decided.
