Commentary

The feminine name Phero is a short form of the numerous compounds in Φερε/ο-, amongst which Φερονίκα and Φερενίκα are of use in the region. Her father's name, only attested in Cyrenaica, belongs to the Libyan stock and is attested in the fourth and third centuries.

Moreover, we know also a funerary base for a woman with the same name and same father's name (IGCyr1057002). It is impossible to guess whether the two monuments (and the two letterings) are contemporaneous or should be separated by a span of time. The question of a possible relationship is treated by the other authors of the publication with archaeological arguments.
