Source description

Support: Small fragment of a white marble block (preserved dimensions w: 0.31 × h: 0.265 × d: 0.22), wholly recut for further use, leaving only a very small part of the inscribed face (w: 0.175 × h: 0.065).

Layout: Inscribed on the face in at least two lines.

Letters: Careful letters (0.27) with very light serifs; slanting sigma.

Date: Probably fourth or third century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found presumably before World War II at Cyrene: exact findspot not registered.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Cyrene Museum, 26. Seen in 1979 by Dobias-Lalou in Shahat: Cyrene Museum.

Commentary

The two preserved names belong to the well attested compounds in -κλῆς, but without preserved endings we cannot know which relation existed between them. It is only a tantalizing hypothesis to compare with Ἀγασικλῆς Φιλοκλεῦς mentioned in IGCyr0089002, which might be contemporary.

The letter-size suggests rather a dedication than a list of names.
