Source description

Support: Two non adjacent fragments of plain rimmed cup, Attic black-glazed ware (diameter c. 0.20).

Layout: Scratched letters written upside-down on lower part of outside.

Letters: 0.003-0.006.

Date: 500-480 BC (monument type).

Findspot: Found between 1963 and 1965 at Taucheira: archaic votive deposit.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by J. Boardman in 1965 at Tūkrah. Not seen by IGCyr team.

English translation

(scil. So-and-so) dedicated from the tithe to Demeter [---].

Italian translation

(scil. Il tale) ha dedicato dalla decima a Demetra [---].

Commentary

τᾶς δεκάτας should be rather a gen. sing. 'from the tithe' than an acc. plur., for this word is usually only a singular.

This graffito is the only clear instance of a tithe for Demeter. IGCyr003802 might be another one, IGCyr0039102 is less clear.
