Commentary

Only the general scheme of a dedication of statues may be identified, but all details are lost. Line 2 shows that the language in use is not the local dialect, as usual in that type of inscriptions, but the koine. And ἑαυτοῦ can only refer to a male dedicant. The upper side has on the rear a hole for attachment to other blocks, but no footprints for statues. This block is therefore only part of a larger monument. It is thus of no use to base restorations upon the axis of the block. One might rather think that another block at left (or a part at left that was recut) had more text, i.e. for line 2 the name of the dedicant, for line 3 some details about the dedication. The mention of a tithe or a telesphoria are not predictable in a text in koine. The name at left of line 1 has the end of a compound name in -κράτης. At right, conversely, because of the large vacat at lines 2-3, no further inscribed block should be restored.
