Source description

Support: Rectangular limestone block, recut for later use (w: 1.08 × h: 0.39 × d: 0.49); a hole on top might be later than the original use.

Layout: Inscribed on the face.

Letters: 0.085.

Date: Second half of fourth century BC (lettering, prosopography).

Findspot: Found in 1928 at Cyrene: reused in the Temple of Hekate.

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen in 1983 by C. Dobias-Lalou in situ,in the Temple of Hekate.

Commentary

Although re-used, the stone might have been placed originally in the sanctuary of Apollo and be part of a dedication, rather than of an epitaph.

This man might be identified with the military officer listed in IGCyr0840002, l. 2.
