Layout: Inscribed on front face, about 0.18 under the broken off top.

Letters: 0.026; rho with small loop, sigma nearly not slantering.

Date: Second half of third to first half of second century BC (lettering).

Findspot: Found about 1980 at Cyrene ➚: South Necropolis (see commentary).

Place of origin: Findspot.

Last recorded location: Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 1985 in Cyrene ➚: inside archaeological enclosure North of Caesareum.

Commentary

The stele, collected about 1980 from the South Necropolis, is thought by Mohamed and Reynolds to come from the tomb where a rock-cut cut inscription (IGCyr008100²) mentions a Βαρκαῖος Ἀστυκλεῦς. If so, the lettering of the stele seems to be somewhat older than that on the wall.

From the same tomb are also IGCyr086400² and IGCyr086500².
